Week 10 Rankings – Fantasy Football 2018

The NFL season  moves fast. 17 weeks feels like a long time, until its week 9 or 10 and you realize it is starting to come down to the wire for fantasy leagues. This is the week I really sit down and look at my squad, can I really win the league? Or do I need to make some moves before the trade deadline? Honest reflection is important in life and also in fantasy.

Now that you have looked at your squad and are ready to make that final push to glory, lets get into the rankings so we can dominate week 10!

Teams of bye this week; Baltimore Ravens, Denver Broncos, Houston Texans, and Minnesota Vikings.

This is another bye week that doesn’t really feel like it will hurt most at this position. Kirk Cousins and Deshaun Watson are the only top options that are missing and their production can be replaced this week honestly with a lot of good match ups on the slate. I think this week is going to play out pretty chalky, it has that feel to it to me.

Patrick Mahomes is a monster. I still believe there has to be some form of regression coming before the season ends, but I am also starting to think there is a chance he just has a completely miracle season and destroys some records. Peyton Manning holds the single season record for 55 Touchdown passes in 2013. Currently Mahomes has 29 TDs through 9 games. With 7 games left and his average of 3.2 TDs per game, Mahomes is on pace for 51.4 passing TDs this year. The trouble is the schedule gets a bit tougher on KC down the stretch, with match ups against ARI, LAR, BAL, LAC, and SEA, its tough to see Mahomes throw over 3.2 TDs in each of those match ups. I think he ends the season right behind Brady for the #3 spot for TDs in a single season with 49 passing TDs. What a season the sophomore signal caller is having!

Baker Mayfield also takes another step forward this week as well. Cleveland’s offense looked better post Hue and Todd, and I think they keep moving forward. Atlanta has so many holes on defense still that Baker can capitalize. He is a great streaming option this week if you are down Cousins or Watson. Also on the other side of this match is Matt Ryan, who is playing fantastic football lately. If you have him, keep rolling him out.

Some other options if you are hurting at the position this week are; Josh Rosen, Kansas City is still giving up a good amount of points and with a focus to getting David Johnson and Fitz back involved in the passing game, I like Rosen for fantasy this week in this match up. The other option if he is still on your waiver wire is Marcus Mariota. They bye week was good to Tennessee, and despite the tough start to MNF with two fumbles, Mariota kept his composure and played very well in that game on the road. He still gives you a safe floor with his rushing and looked better on numerous deep passes and killed it on third downs for his team last week. I feel comfortable rolling him out if you need a spot start for week 10. Last but not least is Nick Mullens, after gong from completely unknown before week 9, he balled out in prime time against an Oakland team that seems to have given up. The Giants are just about where the Raiders are and I think Mullens can take advantage again in a 2nd prime time match up.

Like I said before, this week feels like chalk to me. I think most people’s rankings will look like mine here at the running back position. Some may fade Aaron Jones after last weeks fumble. But we saw what happened on the next drive when Jamaal Williams was in, 3 and out. You have to keep going with Jones, and in a plus match up against a bad Miami run defense, I am sticking with Jones in my RB1 area, he is going to have over 100 yards and a TD in this game. The main guy I have outside of RB1 territory is Joe Mixon. He is going to get the carries, but I said it last week, that the Saints would hold Gurley to his worst fantasy week to date in 2018 and I was right. With Green out for a couple weeks the Saints are going to take Mixon out of this match up as well. I am still playing him as a low end RB2 or Flex play if I don’t have better options though.

Again mirroring the QB section with Mayfield, Duke Johnson has found life again with new OC Freddie Kitchens. Atlanta is giving up 8 receptions per game to pass catching RBs so I expect Johnson to have another solid game in week 10, but I am not expecting another 2 TD outing. He is a high upside RB2 this week.

A player I am low on this week compared to others is Dion Lewis. The revenge game narrative is there, but what New England does and ALWAYS does well, is take away their opponents top offensive option, and for Tennessee, that is Lewis. I expect Mariota to play better through the air and like Davis, Taylor, and Smith in this game. Lewis will still play well, but I would absolutely temper expectations for him.

Some guys that are worth a stream or stash this week if still available on your waiver wires and you are missing Alex Collins, Dalvin Cook, Lamar Miller or Phillip Lindsay are; Josh Adams, he is getting more work and looking solid with it. The rookie from Norte Dame is a big back that gets stronger the more work he gets. He got 9 carries last week and took those for 61 yards. I expect Doug Peterson to call his number closer to 15 times against a Cowboys team that just lost one of their best run stoppers in Sean Lee.

Another streaming option is Ito Smith, in a good game script match up with the Browns, Smith should be able to get enough work to find his way into the end zone again. He has had a nose for it this season with 4 TDs on only 49 total carries.

I also should note at this moment I am not completely sure what to expect from Leonard Fournette this week in terms of snaps. Reports are he has practiced in full this week so far so he may get a full work load, but I can imagine he is ready for that workload if the team just traded for Carlos Hyde. Hyde looked rough too in his first game as a Jaguar, but he had been on the team a handful of days and had to travel to another continent to play. I am giving him a pass for that game. He will look A LOT better coming out of the bye week. This could turn into a time share easily. If you have Fournette you probably have to play him, but I have a bad feeling about this backfield moving forward.

This is the position where the byes sting the most this week. With DeAndre Hopkins, Adam Thielen, Stefon Diggs, John Brown, Emmanuel Sanders, Courtland Sutton, and Demaryius Thomas all out, we are gonna dig into this position bit more this week. Luckily there is some gold to mine in week 10!

Arizona is going to lose to Kansas City, spoiler alert. But what will be surprising is how good the Arizona offense looks in this game. David Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald will look like they are back to normal this week and I am starting both in any spot they are on my squad. I also love Christian Kirk and Ricky Seals-Jones in this match up. Take the over in this one for sure! If Kirk is on your waiver wire, he is a must plug and play if you are in need this week.

I am also a bit worried about Tyler Boyd in week 10. Look he has played great, but with A.J. Green out, he is going to see a healthy dose of Marshawn Lattimore and I think he could struggle to find room in this match up. The up tick in targets is going to go to John Ross, (who is a another great plug and play this week) and C.J. Uzomah. Much like we saw in Denver last week with DT gone, Sutton did not get more targets, Jeff Heurman did. I like Uzomah this week if you need TE help as well).

Everyone is also on Marquez Valdes-Scantling this week as a top waiver wire option and for good reason. He is playing incredibly well, and is the field stretching receiver that Rodgers has needed for a while. He will also NEVER see the top coverage or double teams with Davante Adams and Jimmy Graham rolling around the middle of the field as well. If no one picked him up in your league for some reason, GRAB HIM! He is going to finish 2018 as the top rookie WR.

Last guy I am high on this week is Michael Gallup. The Amari Cooper trade helped him WAY more than it hurt him. No longer seeing the top coverage, Gallup is starting to come into his own. He lead his team in targets and air yards last week against the Titans and with Philadelphia dealing with a couple injuries in the secondary this week, Gallup could be a difference maker for sure. If you are firing him up as a WR3 or flex, you are doing it right this week.

Some other streaming options I love in week 10; Tyrell Williams, Anthony Miller, Curtis Samuel, Antonio Callaway, David Moore, Kendrick Bourne, and Taywan Taylor.

————TIGHT ENDS————

I already talked about why I like C.J. Uzomah so much this week but lets look at some other options this week. I am expecting a good day for both Greg Olsen and Vance McDonald on Thursday Night, Carolina and Pittsburgh both seem to struggle a bit against the TE position and Cam and Big Ben are gonna look to these safety blankets a good amount this week on third downs and in the red zone.

George Kittle is going to continue his reign as the new elite TE option outside of Kelce and Ertz in 2018. While the Giants have been much better against the position than they were last year, Kittle is the best pass catcher on his team and runs so well after the catch for a guy his size. You probably can’t trade for him at this point, but I would try. Make an offer that is close to what you would have for Gronk at the beginning of this season and you may get someone who thinks this won’t last to bite. Unfortunately for them if they do, it will last.

Another guy who is now a top 5 TE as well is O.J. Howard. Despite so many pass catching options on his team, Howard has stepped up as a top Red Zone option for the Bucs. Howard currently has 7 red zone targets, behind Evans (8) and Godwin (10), but last week he pulled in 2 TDs and I expect him to see that 7 pass both Evans and Godwin before week 14 is here.

Some great streaming options this week are; Austin Hooper, Jack Doyle (if available), Ricky Seals-Jones, and Chris Herndon.

Last week I said I will continue to put whomever plays Buffalo at #1 and that worked out well so we are gonna roll with it this week! The Jets are looking for a bounce back week after falling to the Dolphins last week and they get it on Sunday.

This is gonna be a big week for a lot of teams. If there is a team already out of it, see if they have any players they are willing to deal. Maybe your depth can help there team for a player that can elevate yours, but don’t just spam bad offers. Try to help teams, including yours, in all your offers. Best of luck everyone!
